Frequently Asked Questions
- My horse is already listed with a prominent Arabian horse trainer. He/She has a huge network of clients and my horse is getting great exposure on his/her website.
-
Yes, your trainer's website is a great place to start when marketing your horse. However, there is no such thing as "too much marketing" and that is where ArabHorseMarket.com can help you without breaking the bank.
Your trainer's website probably includes your horse in a list of dozens of other sales horses. There is probably a professional photograph and a pedigree. A video may even be included. But what your trainer's website probably does not include is an expanded pedigree or conformation photos and video or show record with upcoming show dates. He or she is counting on a potential buyer to call for these extras and to make an appointment to see the horse. This is a time consuming proposition for buyers who live out of state or even out of the country. ArabHorseMarket.com's expanded pedigree and conformation photos and video provide a virtual buying experience so that these buyers can make informed decisions quickly. If the horse is scheduled to be shown at a nearby show, then buyers have the added option of watching the horse compete.
Think of listing your horse on ArabHorseMarket.com as a companion sales tool to use in addition to your trainer's website.
- My horse is listed with a trainer who has a marketing department that is sending out videos and other information about my sales horse. What can ArabHorseMarket.com do that is any better?
-
If this is the case, it is very likely that your sale chances are improved. Most trainers want to train and show horses, not market them. What ArabHorseMarket.com offers is a virtual buying experience. Potential buyers do not have to call and order videos and photos or pedigrees and then decide whether to make another call for an appointment to see the horse. ArabHorseMarket.com has all of that information in one place.
- How does ArabHorseMarket.com market its horses/products/services for me?
- ArabHorseMarket.com is actively marketing its services at regional and national Arabian horse shows by talking with owners, breeders and trainers at these events. We are running ads during webstreaming of these shows to gain exposure to a worldwide audience. We are also sponsoring classes at these shows, which gives us additional exposure while supporting the Arabian horse industry. We do not know of any other Arabian online marketing service that can make the same claim.
- Does your website compete with my trainer's or agent's commission on sales horses?
- No. Our fees are exactly as stated on our pricing page.
- Do you provide sales contracts for horses that are listed?
- No. ArabHorseMarket.com only sells ad space. We are not involved in any other facet of the sales process.
- I have looked at the sample ad and would like to know your suggestions for getting the most effective conformation photos.
-
For All Horses (conformation photos): All sales horses must include conformation photos in order to be listed on this website. That is what makes ArabHorseMarket.com the most unique online Arabian marketing service available.
To present your horse at its best, make sure that it is clipped and well groomed, as if it were going to the show ring that day. Use your best halter, one that will accentuate the head. The handler should not appear in the photo (if possible), only the horse.
Photos should be taken as follows:
1. Full body facing left.
2. Full body facing right.
3. From the front, focusing on chest and legs
4. From the rear.
For foals: It is okay to have someone holding the foal as long as arms, etc. are at a minimum. (We understand that foals are not always the most cooperative subjects!)
- What are your suggestions for the most effective conformation videos?
-
For All Horses: The video should show the horse being walked briskly, but in a controlled manner, toward the camera. Use whatever distance you think is enough to show the horse's stride. Stop in front of the camera/set up. Then turn and show the horse walking away from the camera. It is important that the horse's hooves are in frame whenever the horse is stopped.
Next, show the horse being trotted toward the camera (again briskly, but under control). Stop in front of the camera. Then turn and trot away from the camera and stop.
For Foals: Videotape the foal moving naturally in an enclosure. It is okay if the mare wants to share the limelight. Again, foals can be challenging to video and we understand! Make sure that the foal is groomed and clipped to show its emerging hair coat color. If a halter is used, make sure that it is well fitting and doesn't hang excessively/detract from the head.
- What are your suggestions for the most effective performance videos?
-
Videotape the horse being walked, trotted and cantered both ways of a show or practice ring. (This works best using a tripod for a steady picture, if you have one.) Riders should be neat and well presented. The horse should be clipped, well groomed and presented as if it were at a show that day. Martingales, bell boots and wrapped tails do not present a horse to its best advantage, so break out the equipment the horse is shown in and let buyers worldwide envision riding your horse to the next championship!
